School started for Andrew yesterday.

Here is his part of his schedule.

WEDNESDAY

8:50 – 9:15  Gymsic

9:15 – 10:45  Math

10:45 – 11:30  Science

11:30 – 11:45  Spelling

11:45 – 12:05  Lunch

12:05 – 12:20  Quiet Time

12:20 – 12:45  Recess

12:45 – 2:00 Reading

Any questions?

Well I sure in the heck did!

What in the heck is Gymsic?  Gym and music together?  Do they do jumping jacks and sing Mary Had A Little Lamb at the same time? This is the 5th grade right?  Then why in the hell do they need quiet time?

Geez, I could use some of that scheduled quiet time. And Google only found a few references to gymsic — including your post today!

A tv station in Omaha (WOWT) posted this yesterday: “The students performed dances they learned last year, in a combined P.E. and Music class, called “Gymsic.””

Must be a Nebraska thing. 😉

I think he should drop the Gymsic class, it sounds stupid. I agree, quiet time? Maybe they should call it study time.

I have a couple questions: Immediately upon reading ‘gymsic’ I wondered what it was – but you had the same question, so I won’t look to you for answers. But – – – school starts at 8:50 and gets out at 2:00??? No wonder school starts so early and gets out so late!

Michele: School only get’s our of school at 2:00 on Wednesday, the other four day’s it’s 3:30. I guess the teachers can’t get all their work done during the day. So they need time with out the kids.
